Your role as a spectator has a significant impact on the success of our youth sports program. Therefore, we need you to fully understand and completely accept the standards of behavior and safety which are detailed below.
I therefore agree:
- I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth and not adults.
- I will understand that children play sports to have fun, make friends, and to learn new skills; therefore, I will praise effort as well as execution in order to keep sports in proper perspective.
- I will inform the coach of any physical disability or special needs that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
- I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the league.
- I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy and demanding positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators at every game.
- I (and my guest) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing or taunting, refusing to shake hands or using profaned language or gestures. I understand that my behavior can have an adverse effect on my child's team (i.e. bench warning and technical foul).
- I will not encourage any behavior or practices that would endanger the health and wellbeing of the athletes.
- I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
- I will demand that my child treat other players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect.
- I will promote the physical and emotional well- being of the athletes ahead of any personal desire I may have for my child to win.
- I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sporting events.
- I understand that I must provide my child his or her own equipment (Bat, Batting helmet, etc.).
- I will not bring my child to practice/games with symptoms of an illness (fever, sore throat, cough, etc.).
I fully understand and completely accept the code of ethics and safety. My agreement at the time of registration and attendance at FYAA events will serve as my public acknowledgment of my unconditional agreement with each standard contained in this document. I realize that at any time my behavior becomes noncompliant with any of these standards I will be subject to disciplinary action set forth in the Forest Youth Athletic Association Code of Conduct per Bedford County Code of Conduct.
