Tackle Football

FYAA Football Information

FYAA offers a recreational, development-based youth football program for ages 5-13. The purpose of recreational football is to provide an opportunity for the players to have fun in a safe and supportive environment. Sportsmanship and safety are the cornerstones of our program, and our volunteer coaches are committed to equally developing all players.

The FYAA Football program is open to all applicants regardless of skill level. Registration is offered in the fall season. The division registered for will depend on their age.

Fall practices begin in August. Teams practice three days per week.

Most games are held on Saturdays. Fall games start the weekend before Labor Day and typically end in late October or early November.

FYAA Football plays in the Seminole District Youth Football League (SDYFL). Teams will travel for away games in tackle football. Home games will be played at FYAA park.

Game schedules are cooperatively scheduled through SDYFL. Locations of away games can be found on our website and SDYFL. Also away game STATUS is often updated on Facebook. Check before you drive to see if an away game has been postponed.

Forming Teams

There is an in-person draft held at the beginning of each season and will be a scheduled time for each age division.

Rosters are formed at the draft by coaches under the supervision of the Football Commissioner and FYAA Administrator. In drafting rosters for all teams, the children of the head coach and assistant coach are automatically assigned to that team. Each Head Coach is allowed to have one Assistant Coach prior to the draft.

Practices and games will be held at FYAA Park Complex (Nissan Field).

Tackle Football Age Groups

The age determination date for football is the child's age as of July 31st of the current year. This date is used to determine if a player is eligible to participate in a division of play.

FYAA Football age divisions are as follows:

  • 11-13

FYAA is always in need of coaches! Please consider volunteering as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach. We have materials and resources available to guide you if you are new to football.  Bedford County policy requires all coaches to have a background check.

Players in all age groups will receive helmets, shoulder pads, mouthpiece, practice pants, game pants, jerseys, socks and pads are provided ($250 security deposit required). Parents will need to provide: cleats, water bottle, practice jersey and girdle (optional).
