FYAA Basketball Information

FYAA offers a recreational, development-based youth basketball program for ages 5-18. Sportsmanship and safety are the cornerstones of our program, and our volunteer coaches are committed to equally developing all players. While basketball fundamentals are at the heart of our instruction, we also focus on fostering a love of the game. Players are encouraged to work on individual skills and then strive to become a contributing member of their team.

The FYAA Basketball program is open to all applicants regardless of skill level or place of residence. Registration begins on October 1 of each year and closes in mid-November, or until an age division is full. A waitlist option is added once an age division is full. The division registered for will depend on their age as of October 1 of the registration year (except for instructional league must be age 5 as of November 1 of the current year).

Coaches

FYAA is always in need of coaches! Please consider volunteering as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach. We have materials and resources available to guide you if you are new to basketball. Bedford County policy requires all coaches have a background check.

Equipment

All players in all age groups will receive jerseys to keep. Basketballs and scrimmage pennys are provided to each head coach for use during the season. We recommend a pair of tennis shoes with rubber soles in good condition for use on basketball courts.
